On December 8, the team on the 500 Block project in Durham, was able to dismantle one of the two cranes on-site after topping out the concrete parking garage and eastern half of the residential structure. The day kicked off with a safety huddle and thorough review of the Task Hazard Analysis (THA) to ensure everyone was clear on the sequencing of the dismantle.
The larger of the two cranes was strategically used to lift the outer jib of the smaller one, preventing any part of the disassembly from encroaching onto neighboring properties. Nearly a dozen trucks then transported the crane’s components to its next location.
The dismantling operation was efficiently completed within a single day, with the team completing all tasks safely and incident-free.
