On April 28, a groundbreaking ceremony was held to launch the United Health Services (UHS) Wilson Hospital expansion. It is the first expansion of the Johnson City-campus in more than 30 years. This represents a major step forward in the enhancement of the hospital’s facilities.
A new state-of-the-art clinical tower will add 183,375-SF to the existing hospital. The building will include four inpatient medical/surgical units, each with 30 private rooms. The tower will also feature a new emergency department, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) suite, surgical support area, and rooftop helipad.
“Most importantly, the goal of the Wilson Project is to create an exceptional patient experience and enhance patient satisfaction with our medical and surgical services,” said John M. Carrigg, president and chief executive officer of UHS. “The new addition will benefit the Southern Tier community in many ways, supporting the quality of care available and expanding our ability to recruit and retain outstanding healthcare providers.”
LeChase’s Binghamton office is construction manager-at-risk for this project, which is expected to be completed in 2025.
