A 220-foot tower crane has been a mainstay on the campus of the University of Rochester’s Highland Hospital since a 4-story, 80,000-SF vertical expansion to the hospital’s southeast wing began in the fall of 2021. With the project nearing completion, crews began dismantling the crane earlier this month.
By adding vertically to the southeast tower, the hospital has been able to increase space without having to expand its footprint. Three of the new floors will provide space for approximately 58 new private patient rooms, while one floor provides space for future build-out.
LeChase is CM-at-Risk for the expansion project, which also included approximately 10,000 SF of renovations to the existing building to accommodate connection to the new tower. The LeChase project team is led by Vice President Kevin Hoffman and Senior Project Manager John Grande.
