Great progress is being made on the Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (CIS) building at Cornell University, with the team starting installation of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT).
CLT is a prefabricated, solid engineered wood panel that is both lightweight and strong, with superior acoustic, fire, seismic and thermal performance. This type of timber is fast and easy to install and generates minimal waste. When applicable, using CLT is a great alternative to other traditional materials like concrete, masonry or steel on projects.
LeChase is serving as the general contractor for the new 134,972-SF, four-story facility, which is expected to be complete in 2025.
