In mid-August, the Thermal Expansion Tank project at Duke University reached a major milestone, as crews substantially completed the tank structure and prepared to close it in. The project team celebrated with a “closing up” ceremony – the equivalent of a “topping out” for a building.

The five-million-gallon storage tank is adjacent and connected to the university’s Chilled Water Plant #3. LeChase completed the plant in 2020. The thermal expansion tank will store chilled water, made in off-peak hours, for use during high-demand times of day.
Thank you to our great partners at Duke University and Affiliated Engineers for their efforts in helping achieve this milestone.
