Project Engineer Tonya Funderburk, of LeChase’s Durham office, recently served on a panel to talk with local students about careers in skilled trades.
The Durham Children’s Initiative (DCI) hosted the panel as part of its two-week Summer Career Exploration (SCE) program. Aimed at 14- to 18-year-olds, SCE teaches workplace professionalism and related skills like creating resumes, job-seeking strategies, and public speaking. During a series of Thursday career panel days, students learn more about working in various industries.
In a note of thanks to Tonya and the other panelists, the DCI wrote: “It was the best possible way to culminate the two weeks we spent working with the students. Many of them have shared with us that hearing from you was the highlight of the training. We are so grateful for your support, and we want you to know that the time you spent with us Thursday afternoon will have lasting effects on our students…”
