LeChase often attends college career fairs, but the company recently had an opportunity to talk with younger students.
Alex Veras, Brent Bochenek and Mike Walpole – of the LeChase NY Capital Region – attended a trade fair to give local high school students a better understanding of career paths in the construction industry. Designed by the Troy School District and hosted by Tamarac High School, the event also drew students from several other nearby schools. LeChase represented the general contractor/construction management side of the industry at the event, which also included booths staffed by mechanical, masonry, electrical and plumbers unions and trade contractors.
LeChase was invited to the event through its participation in the area’s Youth Workforce Development Coalition. Veras noted that while many students who attended were involved in pre-tech, trades or BOCES programs, there were others unsure of their career paths. “I think we definitely sparked interest for some students who weren’t sure what they wanted to get into, as well as some kids who had a general interest but who had not had an opportunity to talk with anyone actually in the industry,” he noted.
