On May 9, Alfred University held a groundbreaking ceremony to kick off the new Saxon Hill Sports Complex project. The event was attended by over 100 guests including members of the University’s Board of Trustees, faculty and staff, coaches, student-athletes and members of the LeChase team.
Once completed, the complex will include:
- the Saxon Sports Center with locker rooms, an athletic training room, a media room and an assembly space,
- a new baseball field with a two-tier press box that will house restrooms, a concession stand and a team room,
- new track and field facilities,
- a new rugby field,
- two grandstands, one facing the track and the other facing the rugby field,
- five parking lots with approximately 435 spaces.
LeChase is serving as the general contractor for the $30 million, multi-field project, which is scheduled for completion by fall 2025.
