LeChase helped sponsor a Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES team that took first place in a recent statewide Skills USA Team Works competition in Syracuse.
The Team Works competition is aimed at high school students in BOCES and trade programs. For the New York competition, students had to build a small bathroom including a masonry (brick) foundation, a floor system, walls, plumbing and electric. Students were also evaluated for workplace ethics, estimating of materials and presentation skills.
The winning BOCES team included members Adam VerSteeg (carpentry) and Logan Wencek, both of Brockport; Braden Ferranti (plumbing) of Holley; and Tim Frisbee (carpentry) of Hilton. With their New York State win, they are now eligible to compete against other state winners at a national competition in June.
In the photo, Peter Sharpe, carpentry instructor, poses with the team in Syracuse. In addition to Peter, instructors Dominic Corona (plumbing) and Kyle Canfield (carpentry) helped train the students.
