On February 28, Southeast Regional Safety Director Brooke Hathaway, Senior Project Managers Barb Lytle and Tim Ames and Project Environmental Health & Safety Manager Hank Slemp attended the 2020 Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Safety Conference in Charlotte, N.C.

Industry safety professionals gathered at the Great Wolf Lodge to discuss best practices and hear keynote speakers reflect on the personal impact of safety. Afterwards, attendees celebrated safety achievements, with LeChase and other companies receiving ABC STEP Awards.
Founded in 1989 as a safety benchmarking and improvement tool, STEP has evolved into a world-class management system aimed at improving safety performance. Participating ABC member firms measure their safety processes and policies on 25 key components. The goal is to implement or enhance safety programs that reduce job site incidents.
As a part of ABC’s safety efforts, member firms have agreed that “in safety, there’s no competition.” In that spirit of cooperation, Brooke, Hank and safety professionals from companies including Choate and Skanska pose together in the bottom photo.
