LeChase received two 2024 Excellence in Construction awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors Carolinas Chapter, at a ceremony on November 7.
The Duke University Sheffield Tennis Center project earned the Eagle Award in the Renovations/Restorations: $5M – $10M category. LeChase partnered with architect New City Design Group to upgrade the facility, adding a 1,200-SF addition with expanded locker rooms, a student-athlete lounge, an operations area with a press box and upgraded athletic medicine and coaches’ spaces. Work also included the addition of the 3,500-SF Curtin Plaza and, after the 2022-23 season, the rebuilding of all 12 outdoor courts.
The Durham Public Schools Murray-Massenburg Elementary School project received a Merit Award in the Schools: Over $50M category. Serving as construction manager, LeChase worked with Evoke Studio Architecture and construction management partner SGS Contracting to deliver the new three-story school. Comprised of several wings centered around a courtyard, the facility embraces natural surroundings – providing various non-conventional indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Addressing occupant-focused standards like natural lighting, air quality, and noise reduction, the school is on track to be the nation’s first WELL-certified K-12 facility.
Members of the Southeast team joined our clients and partners at the event to accept the awards.
