Regional Diversity Manager Denise Barnes and General Superintendent JD Coomer recently spoke to students in the Skilled Trades Pathway program at Durham Public School’s Southern School of Energy and Sustainability. Coomer led the conversation, which focused on construction fundamentals.
LeChase has been an active supporter of the district’s efforts to offer skilled trades education. Barnes was on the team that looked at ways to bring such programs back to local schools. She was also on hand when Southern welcomed the first students to its program in 2019. Since then, she and other Durham employees have participated in various events, including a career fair, at the school.
