On October 8, the LeChase New York Capital Region participated in the Saratoga Showcase of Homes Women in Trades Shed Build event. At the well-attended event, teams of ninth- and tenth- grade female students from six local school districts partnered with construction professionals to build 4’ x 8’ lean-to-sheds. The intent was to inspire the next generation of female builders.
LeChase Project Manager Kaleigh Kupiec, Project Manager Erica McCarthy, and Project Administrator Suzanne Albrecht worked with a team from the Corinth Central School District. All agreed it was a great experience and that they would be happy to participate again in the future.
Thanks to Erica, Kaleigh and Suzanne for spending their Saturday working with the students. Also thanks to Project Superintendents Americo DiCocco and Fred Perotti for lending a hand, and to Curtis Lumber and WSWHE BOCES for sponsoring the event. The finished sheds are being auctioned off during the Showcase of Homes event with the proceeds being donated to charities and the Workforce Development Coalition.
