Murray-Massenburg project receives AGC Build America Merit Award

LeChase has received a 2025 Baldwin Group Build America Merit Award from the  Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America for the Durham Public Schools Murray-Massenburg Elementary School project.

Serving as construction manager, LeChase worked with Evoke Studio Architecture and construction management partner SGS Contracting to deliver the new three-story school. Comprised of several wings centered around a courtyard, the facility embraces its natural surroundings – providing various non-conventional indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Addressing occupant-focused standards like natural lighting, air quality and noise reduction, the school is on track to be the first WELL-certified elementary school in North Carolina.

The Murray-Massenburg project was previously recognized with a 2024 Excellence in Construction (EIC) Merit Award from the Associated Builders and Contractors of the Carolinas.

Each year, the AGC presents the Build America Awards to honor the nation’s most impressive construction projects. LeChase Assistant Superintendent Brian Brewer accepted the award on April 9 at the AGC National Conference in Columbus, Ohio.
