Charlotte-Mecklenberg Schools | Capital Improvements Program
With a student population of 146,000, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) is among the nation’s largest K-12 districts. Our team has served as program manager for CMS since 1998, with LeChase taking over the program after acquiring Lendlease’s local operations in 2016. With responsibility for the entire building program, we are involved in all stages from planning, design and construction through to closeout and warranty management. To date, we have managed the expenditure of more than $2.9 billion. Work has included construction of 77 new and/or replacement schools, more than 100 major addition/renovation projects, and numerous smaller projects. The bond program LeChase is currently managing is valued at $1 billion and will fund 17 new schools and renovations and additions at 12 others.
