Cornell University | Combined Heat & Power Project
This project consisted of a new 15,000 SF facility with two dual-fuel, solar combustion turbines driving two 15 MW ABB generators. Rentech dual pressure heat recovery steam boilers produce low pressure steam to the Cornell campus and high pressure steam to the existing 9 MW steam turbine. The project also included significant earthwork and shoring.
The new plant office and locker facility, which was included in the building, received LEED® Gold certification. The office featured an under-slab hydronic thermal storage system for radiant floor heating and hot water via roof-mounted evacuated tube solar panels.
