LeChase served as construction manager for this 330,000-SF project, which is the largest, most complete orthopaedic facility in the Northeastern US. An example of the “malls to medicine” trend, it was built on the site of a Rochester shopping mall, providing patients with easy access and ample parking. In addition, the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), Imaging Suite and Sports Therapy portions of the facility were built in the existing shell of a former retail space, reducing construction time.
The project was done in phases. The ASC and Imaging Suite opened in early 2023, with the last piece of the 19-acre project – a new construction, four-story outpatient clinic tower – opening in late 2023. The completed Orthopaedics & Physical Performance Center provides 144 exam rooms in the clinic tower; MRI, CT, and X-ray equipment; an on-site sterilization processing department; and eight operating rooms, including the first U.S. installation of a modular OR called Clean Cube. Its snap-together components saved nearly 1,000 on-site work hours, and its glass walls and automated disinfection system helps implement an extremely sterile environment to support infection control.
