SUNY Upstate Medical University | Central New York Biotech Accelerator
The Central New York Biotech Accelerator (CNYBAC) is a 50,000-SF project constructed to provide acceleration services and development resources for the bioscience industry. A joint venture between Upstate Medical University and the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, the CNYBAC has three floors of labs and common areas with an enclosed mechanical penthouse on the fourth floor. An aluminum curtain wall comprises the entire south facade of the building. The scope of work also included the fit-out of seven 1,000-SF labs equipped with both biochemical and fume hoods. In total, the facility contains 18 independent laboratory/office modules to house more than 100 scientists, technicians and entrepreneurs. It also houses a full range of business support services and features several common areas for formal and informal gatherings and facility-wide programs.
