Great progress is being made on the National Women’s Hall of Fame project. The team has started bricking the exterior of the elevator shaft to prepare for the elevator car arriving next month.
This overall renovation will transform the building’s second floor into a larger space to honor the Hall’s inductees, freeing up the first floor to house supporting exhibits. The project will also restore many of the historic aspects of the building including the spiral staircase and original wood floors.
The new elevator shaft is one of the modern elements being added to the facility, along with a glass connector and new main staircase, which will provide better access to all areas of the Hall.
This project – which broke ground last October – is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
