The Greater Rochester International Airport modernization has received a national Project of the Year award from the American Public Works Association (APWA). The Gateway to Monroe County project was honored in the category for Structures more than $75 million.
Previously, the project had won similar state and local awards from the APWA’s New York State Chapter and Genesee Valley Branch.
LeChase was agency construction manager for the $79 million airport program. The company managed more than 60 contractors on work that encompassed over a dozen separate projects. Improvements included a new smartphone lot, entrance canopy, reconfigured TSA checkpoint, smart technology upgrades and two new restaurants.
