In recognition of the OSHA National Safety Stand-Down, LeChase employees and contractors in various regions gathered for demonstrations and discussions about fall prevention. Teams reviewed steps needed to work safely at elevations. Some sites held demonstrations of harnesses and other fall-protection equipment. Regional safety teams also distributed pocket note cards – featuring a fall prevention checklist – as handy reminders.
OSHA’s annual Stand-Down always focuses on preventing falls – a critical goal in the construction industry. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, falls from elevation accounted for over a third of construction fatalities in 2020. These incidents are largely preventable. The goal of the OSHA Stand-Down is to raise fall hazard awareness across the country to stop fall fatalities and injuries.
